All-in-Fives

07 October, 2005

5 anthers, 5 petals, 5 sepals... characteristic of Hibiscus rosa-sinensis commonly found in India... reminded me of my biology classes. When crushed, the red flowers turn black, yielding a dark purplish dye that is used in India for blacking shoes, reason for it being commonly known as Shoe Flower.

Shot in July2005 at Alankrita Resort, F/2.8, 1/200sec, ISO-100, Entry for the PhotoFriday Challenge - 'Five'
