Throne of Stone

14 October, 2005

prev: Open Sesame!
The royal throne inside the Chowmahalla Palace. Must be quite uncomfortable... well, seats of responsibility are meant to be that way :-) Notice the intricate carving on the walls and the elegant chandeliers?

Yes, seats of power are meant to be uncomfortable. Was the power that allowed one to sit in that seat uncomfortable, too?

Great photo. The sparkle of the chandeliers, and the eye is directed to the throne. The chandeliers seem to hint at a French influence.

(Rahul, we have opened the archives for you.)

Thanks R&E. Yes, the Nizams of Hyderabad were in awe of French art and architecture. The Falaknuma palace in Hyderabad (no photos as yet with me) was built completely in a French villa style.
